Hi Team...

I was doing some thinking this AM....

I have this new habit of waking up at 3:45am (totally unplanned)....

But as it gets darker earlier, I find myself hitting the sack earlier as well....

Anyway, back to my early morning thoughts.....

I asked myself this question...

What matters most?

This is what I came up with....

  • Health
  • Family
  • Relationships
  • Passionate Work

These 4-things.

And as I dove into them a bit more- I asked the next question:

Do we give enough time to what really matters?

Are we spending most of our time hoping, waiting, anticipating the next best or worst thing that may or may not happen?

And that is where most are spending time...

Caught up.

Caught up on the news feeds.

Caught up on the weeds of life. (comparison, gossip, insecurity)

The bullshit that sucks us in and takes us away from the Core-4 above....

Take a look at that list again- what else really matters?

You know, some nights after coaching I sit in a rocking chair at the farm looking out on the fields....

I think about some of the older folks that have been and are in my life...

Like my grandmother....

Like some of the old timers I see that are local farmers and blue collar workers....

They keep life simple.

They still use landlines, they do not text or respond to rings and dings, they read the newspaper rather than scroll, they listen to the radio not podcasts, and they value time.

Time with others.

Personal time.

And, time working.

What if we made our lives just that much more simple?

Instead of rushing, running, taking on more, and sizing ourselves up, we just enjoyed what we have.

We work hard, and are given favor for that work.

We do our best, and feel satisfied internally that we did.

We stop measuring who we are and our results against what others have or do...

Wouldn't that be something?

Well, it starts with a decision.

The decision to live different, to be different, to go about your business differently.

That actually makes you a stand-out.

Last week, I sat down with my friend, USA Olympic Gold Medalist, Scott Hamilton and he talked about how with passion and joy and love you can stand-out!

Years ago, I was told by a client: "If you won't be thinking about what you are worrying about today 5-years from now, let it go."

Makes sense.

Stop sweating stuff that really does not matter.

Live each day with excitement, joy, and passion.

You will not regret it.

Go out and win today!

Make today a great day.

Think better- Think differently.

Bad thinking serves nobody!

Let's go!

Your Coach,

Last week I sat down with my friend, USA Olympian, Scott Hamilton. This was a sit-down filled with amazing life lessons! Click here to watch.
