A few nights ago I was outside around 10pm...
It was below zero.
That is really cold when the wind kicks up no matter what type of clothing you are wearing and no matter how many layers you are wearing...
My wife was texting me to come inside- but, there was work to be done as one of our pigs was having piglets...
Why am I telling you this?
I am telling you this because the easy thing to do was say,
"I am cold, I am going inside."
That would be pursuing comfort over purpose.
In that moment, I had a job to do and that job could not be interfered with due to weather or anything for that matter...
I was uncomfortable.
But, it is in moments and times of discomfort that we grow.
Yet, today, most seek comfort.
They navigate away from any discomfort: temperature, challenging work, extended work days/hours, challenging conversations- the truth is, today we want it easier.
We fight for easy and avoid challenge.
I learned something about myself the other night....
I can be tougher.
I will train for tougher.
I will do that by reducing elements of luxury that I have in exchange for more challenging work and conditions...
"Coach, why the hell would you do that?"
The last thing you want to be in life is "soft"....
The tougher you are mentally and physically the more you can endure.
In today's life and business climate- you must be ready to endure.
You must be ready to hustle, outwork your competition, out-think your competition.
If you are not willing to do that with passion, consistency, purpose, and an attitude of "whatever it takes", it is very hard to win today.
Get uncomfortable and start to embrace it.
Any challenge, no matter how small or how big will make you better.
Everything that comes at you in life you have the ability to handle and overcome if you are willing to put yourself in the pit, ready to fight.
I want you to take away from this message: "I am not longer looking for the easy way out- I am going to do whatever it takes to win and I am willing to take on higher levels of discomfort to do so."
Let's commit to that.
It is time we all get a little tougher.
I know you will like the end result of a tougher you.
