Hi Team....

I wanted to write this important message to you today.....

Last night, it was about 10:30pm and I was sitting out in front of the fire-pit....

In the distance, I saw headlights on our pastures.....

One of the guys we hired was out late cutting hay....

In the dark.

Late.

Getting it done.

I could not help but size myself up in that moment.

Here I am... sitting at the pit.

There he is... working.

Now, he is in a different phase of life than I, but, where have I gotten soft?

Where have you gotten soft?

That extra mile that you may still go down- but instead of sprint, you walk.

I found it so impressive that this young man worked all day, then, spent his night getting it done till almost midnight.

There is a lesson here- and it is this.

Where can you re-engage?

&

How can you trade in some of your comforts (which I am sure you earned) for some strategic discomfort?

I find, this begins with a challenge.

A challenge that says: I am going to do this... with a full understanding of the resistance and friction I will face initially, until I gain enough momentum and lift to overcome that resistance and friction.

Personally, I have been doing this each day with my running program.

I never liked running- now, I do it 5-days per week.

I push myself to go a bit faster and a bit longer each day.

It is working.

I am now enjoying that wall that I get to face each day and that I have to push through.

What is it for you?

What are you pushing though? or, Working through?

This principle reminds me of a key principle in the world of strength and conditioning and performance development...

The principle of progressive overload...

This principle simply states that as you increase load, you will eventually adapt to that load.

Over time, if you continue to increase load and adapt to it, you will get stronger.

Well, the same rules apply to life and business... especially if you are a high performer.

Overload leads to adaptation which leads to growth...

Now, this does not mean bury yourself....

It means put a little more on the bar.....

If you are comfortable, bite off just a bit more.... even if it is a morsel....

This principle works....

Through the years- I have used it personally as it related to physical development but more importantly mental development...

The key is this.....

You must be strategic.

Bite off too much and it is like a heavy bar hitting your chest....

Bite off not enough and you will feel frustrated because you did not challenge yourself enough...

AND, speaking of frustrated, I recorded a podcast yesterday on this exact topic- Overcoming Frustration and How To Do It!

I know you can do more....

You know you can do more....

Now, go get after it today!

You are builder.

You are a Champion.
