I caught word that 50% of people out there are working and doing work they hate to do...
That is scary....
But, luckily, I figured out what is causing it...
Post Covid Burnout...
PCB...
Yup.
There is a saying in sports: Shooting your load......
Meaning, well, you went too hard out of the gate and as a result, well, you have no fire left to complete the mission....
When the work-from-home movement began, employers were blown away at the output of their people....
They were getting tremendous performance out of their teams....
It lasted over a year and then things began to level out and the discussion of mental health began to elevate....
Now, we are in a place where most are not able to get back to their COVID efforts and as a result, they are considered not performing...
Many are still performing, and, most likely performing well.
But, there is this group that is not performing at MAX levels and are fatigued, burnt-out, and going through the motions...
Then, there is group that is not performing at COVID levels and as a result it seems like they are doing less...
Yet, they are probably right where they need to be as an average performer...
So, what do we do?
For me, well, I just stop doing things that are not HYA- or high yield activities.
That means not doing the extra "forced" blog post, or, having that "expected of you" dinner meeting which can be easily had in a 20-minute phone chat..,
It means turning the ZOOM camera off in favor of a phone call...
It means only doing HYA and knowing what those are...
When I coach leaders- this is a MAJOR part of creating and establishing clarity...
HYAs only...
All the other stuff- the ass kissing, the obligatory but not obligatory stuff- get rid of it and dial in on the things that will lead to long term, sustained performances- and most importantly revenue.
Too often time and energy is wasted on work that does not yield much but fatigue...
Too many use-less phone calls, meetings, and drama...
Personally, I got no time for it and neither should you...
Today, clear your schedule of the "stuff" that sucks...
Get focused on what matters most...
